Letting go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You hear about the fight\/flight mechanism. \u00a0Aikido is not fighting. \u00a0Certainly there is no flight. \u00a0I get a glimmer of the essence of it all during katatetori, when uke grabs my wrist. \u00a0If I make a fist making it strong, then I&#8217;ve given uke something concrete and substantial to hang onto. \u00a0It is about me. \u00a0It is about my wrist. \u00a0If I let it go limp and surrender, uke has it completely and again it is about me. \u00a0I&#8217;ve disowned my wrist.<\/p>\n<p>What then is left? \u00a0Uke has hold of my wrist. \u00a0He has hold of my arm. \u00a0He has hold of my torso. \u00a0He is holding my body. \u00a0And of course, I am holding Uke&#8217;s body. \u00a0If I see this, then I see more than my wrist.. more than his grip on my wrist..
